yes, the server will be reset.
Not really reset, moreover the 1.8 world will be a seprate world from 1.9. So in short, you can enter either worlds with the corresponding version you're playing on

Login running 1.9 and hit the Survival button in Hub.
tons of lag, not sure if its 1.9 in general or the server
